Italian Grilled Cheese

Ingredients:
Bread

  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic
  • 2 teaspoons onion
  • ¼ cup sundried tomatoes
  • 1-1 1/3 cup hot water
  • 4 tablespoons minced herbs


Filling

  • Procuitto
  • Smoked Mozzarella
  • Tomatoes
  • Balsamic Vinagrette
  • Basil leaves
  • 2 bulbs of
    garlic roasted



Directions

In food processor place all ingredients except water. Pulse for 30 seconds. With machine running add water until dough forms a ball and clears sides of bowl. Continue to run for 30 seconds longer to knead.

Place in ziploc bag and place in microwave until double in size. Punch down, form into loaf and bake at 400 degrees F. for 20-25 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.

Slice into ½ inch slices and build sandwiches.

Spread on side of bread with roasted garlic spread. Add 2 slices of garden ripe tomatoes, 2 slices procuitto, basil leaves and cover bread with a great smoked mozzarella cheese. Drizzle top of bread with balsamic vinagrette and top sandwich.
Brush each outer side with olive oil and grill over medium heat until golden. Cut in half and serve warm. Grilled cheese will never be the same…this is not a kid’s sandwich.
